This past week I had the privilege of hanging out with 23 year old law student and up-and-coming model, Charmaine Shange. We chatted away about all things fashion and lifestyle while I followed her around, camera in hand.

Here's Charmaine's week in outfits:

MONDAY

"I didn't have much of an interest in clothing growing up, but after losing close to 15 kilograms, I had to adjust my wardrobe to fit my new body. This gave me an excuse to start playing around with clothes. And that's how my love affair began."

TUESDAY

"My style used to be very busy. I loved weaves and used way too many accessories. Recently I decided to de-clutter every aspect of my life, and to live more naturally. I now try to focus on buying simple, good quality statement pieces rather than trying to keep up with the latest trends. I also think it's important to live within your means. As a student I've realised that it is possible to get really great garments without breaking the bank. Like these wide-legged black pants that I bought at a charity shop in Southgate for less than 100 bucks."

WEDNESDAY

"Weirdly enough, my style has been influenced a lot by my father. He used to work for a factory that manufactured different textiles, and taught me a lot about the quality of different material and what I should be looking for when investing in a garment. It is also not uncommon to see my dad in a full suit, even on weekends. He is the kind of guy who wakes up early just to polish his shoes. He has taught me to take pride in and own who I am."

THURSDAY

"My style icon is model and owner of Floral Raffia, Lesego Tshepang Mokoena. I am borderline obsessed with her. I love that she's a natural sister, and that you'll rarely see her showing a lot of skin. She's just classy and exudes confidence."

FRIDAY

"I am loving dressing for the body I have. Right now my style is very effortless and minimalistic, and that's where I'm happy. However, I am certain that my style will still evolve. Soon I will be entering the corporate world and I'm excited to see how that environment will influence what I choose. "
